How we compile these reports
Each monthly report is compiled from a combination of public data sources — CMHC Rental Market Reports, Statistics Canada CPI shelter data, and municipal housing reports — plus SQRFT's own aggregated listing data from thousands of Canadian landlords and property managers.
We normalize asking rents to unit type (studio through 3BR+) and report both month-over-month and year-over-year changes. Neighborhood breakdowns are averaged across all approved listings active during the reporting period.
Reports are informational, not financial advice. Individual rental prices vary by building condition, amenities, lease terms, and unit specifics.
